Terrence McNally

Terrence McNally ( born November 3, 1939 in Saint Petersburg, Florida) is an American playwright.

Life

McNally's sometimes operatic - grotesque pieces deal with social problems (Corpus Christi ), priorities are the discussion of gay lifestyles ( The Lisbon Traviata ) and with the life of Maria Callas ' (Master Class).

His plays have been successful in Germany. Similar to the U.S. Province aroused his play Corpus Christi in Germany sensation due to the protests from church groups, who saw a blasphemous confrontation with Jesus Christ in the piece.

After he had gone with the 25 years younger lawyer and Broadway producer Tom Kirdahy in 2001 in Vermont a Civil Union, he married him after opening marriage in 2010 in Washington, DC in front of a pastor of the United Church of Christ.
