Terry Leyden

Terry Leyden ( born October 1, 1945) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.

After finishing school Leyden studied at the National University of Ireland, Galway where he received a degree in political science, sociology and economics.

In 1974 he was elected to the Roscommon County Council. 1979, 1985 and 1999 was his re-election. 1977 Leyden was first elected for Fianna Fáil in the constituency of Roscommon - Leitrim in the Dáil Éireann. After several successful elections, now in the constituency of Roscommon, he was a member until 1992. During this time he was on 23 March 1982 to December 14, 1982 Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Post and Telegraph, March 12, 1987 to July 12, 1989 Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, as well as from 19 July 1989 to 11 February 1992 Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Ministry. After December 2, 1992, he was already a senator in 1992 Seanad Éireann until December 17, he was first elected to the Seanad Éireann 2002. In December 1992, he was nominated by the Taoiseach Albert Reynolds senator to fill a vacant seat new. In the next Senate elections in 2007 Leyden was able to defend his seat.

Leyden is married and has four children. His daughter Orla Leyden ( Fianna Fáil ) was first elected to Roscommon County Council in 2004.
