Course

The Tes produced in about 1900 m altitude in the southwest of the Chöwsgöl - aimags from the well 20 km long river source Dzalagiin gol ( Дзалагийн гол ) from the right and the 30 -kilometer Udschigiin gol ( Ужигийн гол ) from the left. The former springs near the lake Gandan Nuur at 2000 m altitude, while the Udschigiin gol has its origin at about 2400 m on the northern flank of the high rate at 2600 m Bulnai - Nuruu ridge of the Khangai Mountains.

The Tes flows along its entire length in western, northwestern directions partly through the steppes and semi- desert landscapes of the north-western Mongolia and southern Tuva. After a few kilometers away is the town Tsetserleg (also Chalban not to be confused with the much more southeastern city of Tsetserleg ) has happened, he soon reached the Dsawchan aimag with the villages Bajantes (formerly Bajan Ula ) and Tes. He then crossed the border to Russia, on whose territory it flows more than 100 kilometers. On the right side there is Naryn river near the mouth of the village Ersin, the administrative center of southern Koschuuns ( Rajons ) of the Republic of Tuva. From the middle course covers long distances along the river one up to several kilometers wide bush and riparian strips, called there Tugai, while the surrounding area is dry and covered only by sparse vegetation.

The lower reaches of the Tes runs again on the territory of Mongolia, now the Uvs aimags. He's there more than 50 feet wide; The flow rate is 0.8 m / s From about the area of the new border kick it forms an inland delta, which extends to the confluence with the Salt Lake Uvs Nuur about 100 kilometers and is 30 km wide at the mouth. Approximately along the northern boundary of the delta runs the state border. On a southern tributary is another named after the river Tes village. The Uvs Nuur is the largest lake in Mongolia; he is in a endorheic basin, and the Tes is his most important tributary. The estuary is located on the northeast side of the lake, about 100 kilometers as the crow flies from the Aimag administrative center Ulaangom.

The lake Uvs Nuur and the surrounding area him, including a part of a huge, swampy reed surface representative Tes Delta is recognized as a biosphere reserve. In 1997 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The most important tributaries of Tes are Schawaryn gol Chosyn gol ( in Tuva: Chussuin - Gol ), Dzaigal gol ( Saigal ), Chatschigiin gol ( Katschik ) and Naryn, all of which open out from right and the Tannu - Ola Mountains and its eastern foothills entfließen.
