Těšany

Těšany ( German Tieschan, 1940-45: Tischau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 21 kilometers southeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Těšany is located in the foothills of Steinitzer forest at the transition to Thaya Schwarza valley floor. The village is situated on the left bank of the creek Moutnický creek, the creek on the northern outskirts of the confluence of the Borkovanský and Hranečnický creek arises. North-east rises the Vinohrady ( 339 m) and in the south of Strážky (290 m). To the east lies the Stauweiher Borkovanský fishpond. To the north lie the wells of bitter water Šaratica.

History

The first written mention of Těšany place in the year 1131st In 1277 gave Agnes, the daughter of Boček of Jaroslavice and Zbraslav and wife of Witicho of Rodenbach ( = Witiko / Veit of Schwabenitz on uPA / Vitek z Rodenburku a ze Švábenic ), a third of the village to the Cistercian monastery Saar. In 1377 his son Benesch of wild mountain Busau came from a yard and 18 strokes of the village at the Brno Dominican monastery of St. Michael, with the proviso of the life-long use by his brother, the German Teutonic Knights Niklas von Wildenberg - Busau. Owner of the other part later became the Convent of St.. Anna in Brno. The proportion of Saarer monastery later acquired the Old Brno Monastery Queen and left him a little later the Dominican monastery. Between 1528 and 1548 the proportion had pledged Anne monastery associated with Moutnice and Šitbořice to Henry of Lomnitz, after the monastery replaced the pledge again. 1620 the village was destroyed by the troops of the rebel stands. 1645, the village was burned down by the Swedes. After the dissolution of the monastery during the Josephine reforms Těšany fell in 1784 to the religious fund. After the abolition of patrimonial Těšany / Tieschan formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Auspitz. In 1949 the community was associated with the new Okres Židlochovice. Since the abolition of the Okres Židlochovice in 1961 Těšany belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

  • Parish Church of St.. Barnabas, built 1897-1906
  • Castle Těšany with private chapel, built in the late 17th century as the residence of the Brno Dominican Order. In the second half of the 19th century, the Weiss family bought the castle and had carried out extensive alterations. In 1999 there was a restoration of the castle, which today is privately owned.
