Tessa Sanderson

Tessa Sanderson (actually Theresa Ione Sanderson, born March 14, 1956 in Saint Elizabeth Parish ) is a former British javelin thrower and Olympic champion Jamaican origin.

In 1976, she was tenth in the Olympic Games in Montreal. In 1978 she won silver and gold at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, where she started for England at the European Championships in Prague. At the Olympic Games in Moscow, she was eliminated in the qualifying.

A fourth place finish at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki, followed the year after her greatest triumph. At the games in Los Angeles, she won an Olympic gold medal as the first British -colored.

A victory at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1986 followed in 1987 fourth place at the World Championships in Rome. In 1988, she retired at the Olympic Games in Seoul in the qualifier and in 1990 she defended her title at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

Its last great success was the fourth place at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. With 40 years she qualified for the sixth time for the Olympics, but in 1996 in Atlanta as little about the preliminaries out as the World Championships in Athens.
