Testudo weissingeri

As a dwarf marginated tortoise a small permanent population of Marginated tortoises (Testudo marginata ) is called with a maximum of 25 cm carapace length. It was first described in 1994 as Testudo marginata of Trutnau weissingeri with distribution on the Peloponnese. In 1996 she had Bour to even own species status, but this was refuted by Fritz ( 2005), based on genetic studies. He looks at her as environmental, small regional form of the marginated tortoise. The CITES Species Database lists no corresponding type.
