Tetrazine

Tetrazines are a class of heterocyclic aromatic six-membered rings with four nitrogen atoms in the ring and thus a subset of the azines. Of the three possible isomers, the 1,2,4,5- tetrazine is particularly important. 1,2,3,4- tetrazine and 1,2,3,5 - tetrazine have lower significance. The latter are known only in the form of condensed ring systems or partially hydrogenated derivatives.

The water-soluble, symmetrical 1,2,4,5- tetrazine -built forms purple crystals which melt or sublimate at 99 ° C. It is generated, ring closure of two molecules of ethyl diazoacetate followed by oxidation followed by decarboxylation.
