Seen the devil horns with inscription from the west

The devil horns are a massif composed of the Great Devil Horn ( 2363 m) and the Little Devil Horn ( 2283 m).

Generally

The Great Devil Horn ( 2363 m above sea level. A. ) is the higher and more northern summit of the two devil horns and the highest peak in the Hagen Mountains, a part of the Berchtesgaden Alps.

The Little Devil Horn ( 2283 m above sea level. A. ) is the smaller peaks and is located southwest of the Great Devil Horns.

The devil horns protrude to the boiler between the Bavarian and Austrian Röth Blühnbachtal, both are extremely remote corners. Due to the long boarding the Great Devil Horn is rarely climbed to the highest point there is a cross on the summit, and it offers a beautiful panoramic view, among others, the High King, watzmann and the Tennen Mountains.

The devil horns span a rocky ridge, which marks the border between the province of Salzburg and the district of Berchtesgaden in Bavaria. About the demanding rocky ridge (difficulty II UIAA ) runs a climbing route, which is not marked or secured and therefore can be recommended only to experienced mountaineers.

The normal route starts at the inn Salet, which is only accessible by a one-hour boat ride across the Koenigssee. Passing the upper lake we go into the valley called Fischunkel where the impressive Röthbachfall rushes down. On partially secured Röthsteig it is usually quite steep in many serpentines to Wasseralm, one since 2005 in the summer simply farmed mountain hut at an altitude of 1423 m. Here is stayed as a rule, since the complete ascent would one day too long and strenuous. Over a first nor unschwierigen way it continues through the Röth to the fork at 1650 m.
