Tevfik Fikret

Tevfik Fikret ( born December 24, 1867 in Istanbul, † August 19, 1915 ) was a Turkish poet.

He was a staff member and lead author of the journal " Servet -i Fünûn " ( " treasure of knowledge "), which was working towards a renewal of Turkish literature. With its inclusion of French and especially impressionistic elements in his poetry, he is considered a modernizer of the Turkish poetry. Fikret taught in the 1890s at Robert College and lived on campus. From this time touched his close friendship with Dr. Friedrich Schrader, who has also worked at the Robert College and lived with his family on campus, and has honored him in an article in "Literary Echo" in 1900 in detail.
