Teyjat
Teyjat ( Occitan Taijac ) is a municipality with 275 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French department of Dordogne in the Greater Region Aquitaine. It belongs to Canton Nontron and forms part of the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park.
Geography
The municipality (French commune) Teyjat includes the hamlets Baran Court, Beaumont, Bellevue, Bois Bernard, Boisseuil, Bouère, Braugnac, Caillaud, Chauffour, chez Gourjout, chez le Mège, la Borie la Rondee, Laudonie, Lauterie, le Bouchage, le Chatelard, Forrestier le, le Forrestier skin, Penauds les, les Plaines, Malibas, Quillac and Veaubrunet.
The municipal area is centrally crossed by Marcourive, a right tributary of the Bandiat. On its northern side it is bounded by the Ruisseau de l' Etang d' Assat and on its south side by Merlancon - both also right tributaries of the Bandiat.
The center of the community is connected by road to the slightly further to the west running D 75 of Nontron by Marthon, it is located about 3.5 kilometers from the main road. About three more streets, there are connections for passing to the south of D 93 Javerlhac after Étouars and then to Piégut -Pluviers. Also located in North D 92 of Mainzac and La Chapelle -Saint- Robert to Piégut -Pluviers is reached via road links.
The district is surrounded by the following municipalities:

- Bussière- Badil in the northeast (only one point of contact )
- Étouars in the East
- Le Bourdeix in the southeast
- Javerlhac -et -la -Chapelle -Saint- Robert in the south and southwest
- Varaignes in the west and northwest
The orographic lowest point of the municipality is 120 meters above sea level is located close to the intersection of Marcourive in the Bandiat on the western edge, the highest point at 247 meters on the eastern edge of the brick factory north Bellevue at the D 93
Geology
In the east, the municipality rocks of the Variscan basement touched. The mudstones provide the raw material for (now disused ) brickworks on the eastern edge of the township. There then follow sediments of the Dogger terms of area, take the largest part of the claim. They are generally present in a recrystallized state - for example, in the village as linked to disturbances Rosettenfazies (radial calcite crystals ). Occasionally, also unchanged sediments reveal - Upper Bajocian, consisting of white Oolithkalken. On the ridge between the valleys, the flat-lying Mesozoic sediments of colluvial unconsolidated sediments of Pleistocene and two tertiary debris tongues are covered ( with rounded river cobbles ).
On the western edge of the municipality in Baran Court the northwest- striking fault zone Javerlhac - Varaignes pulls through, which is mineralized with sphalerite, galena and barite. Its course is also marked by a natural source ( Fontaine de Sainte -Marguerite ).
History
The prehistoric human presence is clearly evidenced by the cave of Teyjat, in about 40 engravings ( by about 10 000 BC) are from the late Magdalenian. Shown are Bovidae as bison, cattle, reindeer and deer. Very close is still the Abri Mège which may also have been already settled very early. On a hill at Veaubrunet be found ( the rather sparse ) remains of a dolmen from the megalithic, built from granodiorite and paragneiss.
Demographics
The population numbers are generally declining, with particularly sharp declines after 1982 and 1999.
