Thallium (I) bromide, is a chemical compound from the group of thallium compounds and bromides.
Occurrence
Thallium (I ) bromide occurs naturally as a mixed form with thallium ( I) chloride in the form of the very rare mineral Lafossait.
Production and representation
Thallium (I) bromide, can be prepared by reaction of thallium (I ) sulfate and thallium ( I) nitrate gain with pure hydrogen bromide.
Properties
Thallium (I ) bromide is a weak greenish yellow solid, which is practically insoluble in water. It is freshly prepared slightly greenish yellow, is at the light but dark. It has a crystal structure of the cesium chloride - type (A = 397 pm ).
Use
Thallium ( I) bromide is used as Thalliumbromidiodid in attenuated total reflectance spectroscopy, as a mixed crystal with thallium ( I) iodide.
