Thanasis Pafilis

Athanasios Pafilis (Greek: Θανάσης Παφίλης, born November 8, 1954 in Pitsio Fthiotidas, Greek Πίτσιο Φθιώτιδας ) is a Greek politician of the Communist Party.

Life

Pafilis has graduated law school in Thessaloniki. He belonged to the Central Committee of the Communist Party and was the General Secretary of the Greek Committee for International relaxation and peace, and the World Peace Council. He also sat on the Committee on Human Rights of the United Nations. From 1989 to 1993 he was a member of the Greek Parliament. In 2004 he was elected to the European Parliament, in October 2009, he returned to the Greek Parliament. In elections in May and in June 2012 his mandate was confirmed in each case.
