The 69 Eyes

The 69 Eyes is a Finnish sleaze and garage rock band with influences from metal and gothic rock.

Band History

The 69 Eyes was founded in 1990 as a sleaze - and garage - rock band in Helsinki. With appearances at local clubs, they received a contract with the Finnish underground label " Gaga Goodies", which in 1992 released their debut album Bump'n'Grind published, followed by three further albums - Motor City Resurrection, Savage Garden and Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams.

Around 1999 Roadrunner Records took the group under contract, followed by the first internationally released album Wasting The Dawn. The eponymous single from the album, on the Ville Valo provided the background vocals, was a hit in Finland and climbed to number 5 on the Finnish single charts.

In spring 2000, the band released the album Blessed Be out (produced by Johnny Lee Michaels). It was the first album of the band, which was awarded with gold. The singles from this album were Brandon Lee, Gothic Girl ( chart position FIN 2) The Chair and Stolen Season. This brought the band's initial success in Germany.

August 2000 The 69 Eyes started their first European tour, including by Germany, and first played on the famous Mera Luna Festival. Your support on this tour was the Norwegian band Zeromancer. In May 2001, the band then went on tour with Paradise Lost.

Dance d' Amour was the first single from the album Paris Kills in February 2002. This was the biggest success of the band in Finland and reached first No. 1 on the Finnish charts, where the single remained for five weeks. But the album itself was a success. It debuted at # 1 on the album charts, reaching as was the single gold status.

In spring 2003, they played at the Wave -Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. The third single from the album called Paris Kills Crashing High came out in September of the same year. The end of 2003 published The 69 Eyes, the best-of compilation Framed in Blood - The very blessed of the 69 eyes and the Helsinki Vampires DVD, containing, inter alia live recordings of a concert in the club " Tavastia ".

In early 2004 the band received a recording contract with Virgin Records, where in the fall of 2004, the album was released Devils. As previously Paris Kills Devils also reached # 1 on the Finnish album charts, and received a gold disc. The first single was called Lost Boys. The video to pay homage to the film The Lost Boys, was the first video of the band, which was also seen outside of alternative TV shows. This was taken with the help of Bam Margera, who was also involved already at HIM's Buried Alive By Love video.

The next few years spent mainly The 69 Eyes on tour, so first time in 2006 by the United States, where they also had an appearance in one of NBC's Carson Daly on March 31.

On 3 March 2007, the album " Angels " was released. On 21 August 2009 the album " Back In Blood" was published.

X [ named after the Roman numeral for " 10", " X" can be noisy Jyrki69 but eg also stand for ex-girlfriend ] is the 10th studio album by the band. It was released on 28 September 2012 in Europe and on October 9, 2012 in North America.
