The Agonist

The Agonist is a Canadian Metalcore / Melodic Death Metal band. It was founded in 2004 under the name of The Tempest in Montreal.

History

Alissa White- Gluz founded in 2004, Danny Marino, Chris Kells and Simon McKay, the band The Tempest, with which they were traveling exclusively in Canada. After they had signed a record deal with Century Media, they named themselves to at the request of Alissa in The Agonist, because agonist in Greek fighter, which fits well with the setting of the front woman of the band, both politically involved as well as the environment using. So the band already appeared for the release of their first album Once Only Imagined on August 14, 2007 at Century Media Records on under its new name. On August 28th, the first video appeared on the song " Business Suits and Combat Boots ". The government took over David Brodsky, who has already worked for many other bands, including for Gwar. The video was chosen by the MTV 2 broadcast Headbanger's Ball on place 6 of the best videos of 2007. The second album Lullabies for the Dormant Mind was released on 10 March 2009, the video for the single " ... and Their Eulogies Sang Me to Sleep" on 18 April of the same year. The government took over again David Brodsky. Two more videos for "Birds Elope With The Sun" and "Thank You Pain", also from the album Lullabies for the Dormant Mind, followed. In March 2014, Alissa White- Gluz of the band Arch Enemy joined to replace Angela Gossow there. New singer was Vicky Psarakis.

Style

The Agonist is based on the self-written lyrics by singer Alissa and electric guitarist Danny. They rely on social, political, ethnic and moral issues and dilemmas that they bring in their songs to express.
