The Airborne Toxic Event

The Airborne Toxic Event is an American indie rock band.

Career

The aspiring writer Mikel Jollett founded the band in 2004 along with Daren Taylor in Los Feliz, California. They became known through their MySpace presence, by which they were picked up by Rolling Stone magazine in the list of MySpace top bands of 2006. For the stage Instrumentation The Airborne Toxic Event has been expanded to five members. The band's name is borrowed from the novel White Noise by Don DeLillo.

After first appearances followed a year later and in 2008 the first publications record deal with Majordomo Records. Their debut album, bearing the band's name as the title, appeared in the same year in the U.S. and spent several weeks at No. 1 on the Heatseeker charts. Several appearances at major U.S. festivals also followed performances in Canada and the UK. There, the album was released in early 2009 and reached number 35 in the UK charts. The single Sometime Around Midnight became a Top 40 hit.

On September 30, 2013, the fourth album of the band appeared with the title search Hot Blood.
