The Auk

The Auk is a quarterly ornithological journal and at the same time the official organ of the American Ornithologists ' Union ( AOU ). It was under this name in 1884 launched after eight issues of a journal had existed since 1883, the Nuttall Ornithological Club Bulletin of the called and as its successor The Auk understood itself. Contributed significantly to the foundation, Joel Asaph Allen, who was also its editor until 1912. The Auk publishes scientific papers on all areas of ornithology, some focused on Nearctic and Neotropical species.
