The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation ( BNY Mellon ) is a global financial services company that was born from the Bank of New York and Mellon Financial Corporation on July 1, 2007. The company employs approximately 49,500 employees, manages assets of more than 1.4 trillion dollars and has more than 26.7 trillion dollars. BNY Mellon is also the largest custodian in the world. In 2009 the company celebrated its 225th anniversary of the Bank of New York.

BNY Mellon offers both Investment Management (Asset Management ) for mainly institutional clients such as pension funds and investment services, such as custodian banking, payment processing, and many other services for other financial institutions. The Bank is one of the 28 major banks, which by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) as " systemically important financial institution" ( systemically important financial institution) were classified. Therefore it is subject to special monitoring and stringent requirements on the level of equity.

Bank of New York

The Bank of New York was founded in 1784 by Alexander Hamilton and is the oldest bank in the United States. She set up her business on June 9, 1784 Walton House in Manhattan. 1792 was the first company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Mellon Financial

T. Mellon & Son 's Bank, as Mellon Financial was originally called, was founded in 1869 in Pittsburgh by former Judge Thomas Mellon and his sons Andrew W. Mellon and Richard B. Mellon. 1886 Thomas Mellon handed the leadership of the company to Andrew. This left the company in 1920 to serve under three governments and during the global economic crisis as finance minister. From 1902, the Bank operated under the name Mellon National Bank. In Asset Management, The Bank of New York Mellon Ventures occurred in Germany last together with WestLB, founded in 2006 as part of a joint among equals under the name WestLB Mellon Asset Management.
