The Battle of Los Angeles (album)

Occupation

The Battle of Los Angeles is the third studio album by the crossover band Rage Against the Machine. It was published on 2 November 1999, almost exactly 7 years after the release of their first album Rage Against the Machine and over 3 years after the release of their second album Evil Empire. Between just this and The Battle of Los Angeles, they released the live album Live still & Rare.

Background

The album debuted at number equal to 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. " Guerrilla Radio" was the soundtrack to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on PC and changed considerably on Nintendo 64 The Time called it the "Best Album 1999 ". It was also included in the list of the 100 best albums from 1985 to 2000 SPIN Magazine at number 53.

The album cover was originally derived from the artist Joey cancer ( Joel Jaramillo ), a famous artist from Los Angeles who has several exhibitions in LA, New York and the entire United States.

The texts were, inter alia, influenced by George Orwell's novel 1984. In "Testify ", " Sleep Now in the Fire" and " Voice of the Voiceless " direct quotes and keywords from the book occur.

The song "Calm Like a Bomb" is part of the soundtrack of Matrix Reloaded. Producer of videos for " Sleep Now in the Fire" and " Testify" was Michael Moore.

In 2003, the album was placed at number 426 of the Rolling Stone list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
