The Black Stallion

Flash, the black stallion ( Original Title: The Black Stallion) is a youth book of the U.S. author Walter Farley.

Action

Alec Ramsay, a twelve- year-old U.S. citizen, and a wild black Arabian stallion are the only survivors of the sinking of the freighter " Drake ". You are stranded on a deserted, barren island somewhere far off the Portuguese coast. During their struggle for survival in the inhospitable island, a deep friendship between man and beast arises. Alec even manages to bring the colt to tolerate him on his back and let yourself ride. After their rescue takes Alec lightning, as he calls the horse, with the former New York suburb of Flushing, where he lives with his parents. Alec learns the former jockey Henry Dailey know which recognizes the potential of the two and she begins to train. The acquaintance with a newspaper reporter allows Alec and Henry to let participate flash as the third horse in a race between the two fastest race horses in the United States, the flash wins despite injury.

Background

In the U.S. original flash has no name. Alec calls him "Black" ( "Black "). This is taken in the German synchronization of the films.

Films

In 1979 the book by Francis Ford Coppola The Black Stallion Kelly Reno ( Alec ) and Mickey Rooney ( Henry) was filmed under the title. In 1981, the sequel The Black Stallion Returns, which returns home on the second volume of the flash range, flash based.

Flash, the black stallion was the first in a YA series that was continued by Walter Farley's death by his son Steven Farley.

Steven Farley also created the series Flash and his friends, although still has Alec Ramsey, flash and Henry Dailey as protagonists, but the emphasis on the girl Danielle Conners ( Dany ) and her horse Redman sets. This series is aimed at a younger audience than the original flash books.
