Action
The American Hélène learn in 1938 in Paris know the Communists Jean. Hélène writes love letters to Jean that this does not answer. He says Hélène during a meeting, he did not want to encourage. Later Hélène is still pregnant with Jean, but she drives from the fruit of the womb.
After the beginning of World War II Jean is a soldier and go into captivity. The entrepreneur Bergman comes to Paris. He falls in love with Hélène, which in turn continues to Jean loves and achieved his release. Bergman attracts Hélène with the promises to allow her a career in the fashion world. Jean joins the Resistance.
The fighters accuse the Resistance Hélène of collaboration with the Germans; To prove her innocence, she participated in an attack against the occupiers.

The movie service wrote that the " very emotional " film had a " very simple act " and keep balance between " sentiment and humor." He was "not a great work of Chabrol, this " missing him " in atmosphere, convincing dialogue and scenic implementation."
The magazine Cinema wrote that the "star -studded miniseries by unexpectedly clumsy dialogues " disappoint. The film was " despite great name a lean melodrama ".
