The BOC Group

The BOC Group is a UK based industrial gases company, which was acquired in 2006 by the German Linde AG for 12 billion euros.

History

The company was founded as Brin 's Oxygen Company Ltd.. in January 1886 after the two brothers Arthur and Leon Brin had begun in 1880 with the preparation of oxygen. Main source of funding was the earthenware manufacturer Henry Sharp.

1887, the company already manufactures 4,024 m³ oxygen.

BOC 2000 built the largest nitrogen plant.

Acquisitions

Mid-1960s, bought the BOC major welding equipment manufacturer Murex. For this purchase was a special metal company which established in carbide and ferro alloys and metals refined.

1968 bought BOC Edwards High Vacuum. This purchase completed the BOC portfolio vacuum, electron beam welding, thin film coating and freeze-drying.

In 1975, the Company BOC International Ltd.. renamed. In 1978, BOC American manufacturer Airco. 1982 BOC bought 43 % stake in the Japanese industrial gases company OSK.
