Action

Mike Brady, a widowed architect with sons Greg, Peter and Bobby marries Carol Martin (née Tyler ) with the daughters Marcia, Jan and Cindy. The daughters take the Brady surname. The series creator Sherwood Schwartz wanted, originally, that Carol is divorced, but the transmitter was against it. So we devised a compromise that circumstances beyond the end of Carol's first marriage should be mentioned, however, many hypothesized that she was widowed.

The new family, including Mike's housekeeper Alice Nelson who has everything for advice, moves into a new home near Los Angeles, which was designed by Mike. The episodes of the first season show the Bradys as they learn to cope with the new situation but also typical childhood problems such as difficult dating, rivalries and Familienkabbeleien.

Occasionally there are also subtle references to larger social problems through dialogue. So Marcia explored in the episode guy thing? Thing! ( second season ) the suppression of the Brady women and wants to prove that a girl can do anything a boy can do.

Mike does much of his work as an architect in a home studio, an obvious way, the series realism in the way to give, in the sitcom fathers are almost always at home and still have a good income.

The title song (Text with Sherwood Schwartz, Music by Frank De Vol ) should give the audience a picture of a mixed family. This picture was, however, greatly weakened from the second season, with some exceptions. Thus, for example, the consequences of our group picture for this wedding and Aunt Jenny mentioned that Mike and Carol have been married only three years.

Another family member was the dog Tiger, who was run over in 1971 during the filming of a car.

The series showed the typical picture of a person living in an ideal world great American family in the early 1970s. But today would be the term blended family the most appropriate term. The experiences, quirks, needs, and many beautiful moments of the Brady family were staged with a lot of slapstick and attention to detail, so that the series was a great success through repetition and branches in the United States and Germany.
