The Brothers (ship)

The Brothers ( The Brothers ) was a 40-ton schooner, who suffered in the Bass Strait near Tasmania in 1816 under the command of Captain William Hovell shipwreck. On June 25, 1816, the ship anchored near the Kent Group in Bass Strait as came up from the east tower, the anchor chain broke and crashed the ship on the coast. The cargo consisted of 20 tons of salt and 800 bushels of wheat that went overboard. The sailor Daniel Wheeler drowned. Ten weeks normally feed the survivors of wheat which had washed up on the beach and other edible until they were rescued by the brig Spring under the command of Captain Bunster. The survivors reached Sydney on 6 September 1816.
