The Carpet Crawlers (English for "The Carpet Crawlers " ) is a song by British rock band Genesis, which was released as a single. It comes from the concept album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway from 1974.

Content

In this part of the story, the protagonist Rael is in a corridor with a red carpet and kneeling people, the slow crawl to a wooden door. As Rael goes through this door, he is in a room with a festive table and a spiral staircase which leads up to a chamber.

An interpretation of the text is the way of the sperm ( the crawler ) on the way to the egg.

Single

On the B - side you can hear Evil Jam ( The Waiting Room - Live). The single was recorded in August-October in 1974 and first appeared in April 1975. Musical style is progressive rock, the length of the song is 5:15 minutes. It was produced by the label Charisma / Virgin of ( UK) John Burns, along with Genesis. A second version of the song was released in November 1999 under the label Atco / Atlantic by Trevor Horn and is taken from the compilation Turn It On Again - The Hits.
