The Cavern Club, opened on 16 January 1957 was a legendary rock 'n' roll club in Liverpool. Here in the Mathew Street number 10 met together in 1961 Brian Epstein and the Beatles.

Alan Sytner founded the club after he had seen in Paris jazz club. The Cavern was modeled on the Paris Le Caveau. First, a jazz club, the Cavern is home to the skiffle bands soon. 1959 Sytner sold the club to Ray McFall, since he moved to London.

In the early 1960s occurred Blues bands and Beat groups in the Cavern. The first Beat night was held on 25 May 1960 with Rory Storm & the Hurricanes, where Ringo Starr sat on drums. Cilla Black worked in the cloakroom.

On February 9, 1961, the Beatles had lunch their first appearance at the Cavern Club, after they returned from Hamburg. On March 21, they had the evening premiere. Between 1961 and 1963 the Beatles appeared 292 times in the Cavern. In the following years many well known bands and performers gave concerts in the club, including The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, The Yardbirds, Elton John and John Lee Hooker.

In March 1973, the Cavern Club was closed. During the construction of the subway, the building was finally demolished.

Joe Davey built the club on new, which opened its doors in April 1984. Some of the stones of the original Cavern Club were used in the new club, which should see the model as similar as possible.

On December 4, 1999 Paul McCartney presented the new Cavern Club before his album Run Devil Run.
