The Cavern - descent into horror ( Original title: Within) is an American horror film and the directorial debut of Olatunde Osusanmi. It is a direct-to- video production from the year 2005.

Action

Bailey, Gannon, Domingo, Miranda and Ori are five adventurers who want to explore a previously unexplored cave in Kazakhstan. The cave is located in the Kyzyl Kum desert in the middle of nowhere. Two years ago, it came at a similar expedition the group to a tragic accident: In the cave suddenly water ran and Gannon's former girlfriend Rachel was drowned. Although he tried to hold it, but it was swept away by the current. Therefore Gannon makes up today allegations.

To the team are joined by the author Ambrose, the research for a new book, and the two guides Vlad and Slava. Shortly after the expedition group has invaded the cave, someone closes the strange output with a rock. Thus one is forced to penetrate deeper into the cave system to find another exit. They are pursued by an unknown creature that kills gradually the members of the group.

Only Miranda and Baily can escape from the beings first. Discover an output but just before they escape, withdrawn and taken to the cave. The creature turns out to be a man with a burnt face. He has the name Petr and as a child was the only survivor of a plane crash. Then he retreated to the cave and lost all social behavior.

Background

The movie has many similarities with the horror film The Descent - abyss of horror. In fact, however, it was completed a few months earlier, but published to improve the marketing later.

Criticism

In the horror film outweigh the bad reviews. Noticed in particular were the shaky camera work and the incomprehensible end.
