The Code (2001 film)

Codename: Linux (AKA The Code ) is a 2001 realized, 52 -minute documentary on the history of GNU / Linux, free software and open source movement. In this Finnish- French production Hanno Puttonen directed.

The documentary shows, among other things, interviews with Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, Eric S. Raymond, Alan Cox, Miguel de Icaza, Theodore Ts'o, David S. Miller, Ari Lemmke and many more. Furthermore, the documentation contains a chronological history of the development of Unix and Linux. With this the Free Software song ( with translation as subtitles ), which was published under the GNU Free Documentation License.

On German television, the documentation was on arte. On DVD, the film is in English only ( even without German subtitles ) available, but with bonus material, including several pieces of music which can be heard only in part even in the documentation.
