The Ditty Bops

The Ditty Bops are a California band from Los Angeles. Their music is characterized by a mix of folk, bluegrass, jazz, western swing, ragtime and style elements from the musical. The heads of the band are Abby DeWald ( vocals and acoustic guitar) and Amanda Barrett (vocals, mandolin and dulcimer). Their often arranged in a retro style songs like by distinct harmonies and playful style and pace. The content of the songs are different, a focus is environmental issues.

Initial activities of the band, there were in 1999, when members of the Ditty Bops later in New York City met. The merger to today's strip was not completed until years later.

Six of their songs were aired as a film music in the hugely successful U.S. series Grey's Anatomy. Her song There's a Girl appeared on the series soundtrack.

The idea of their second album Moon Over the Freeway in 2006 was accompanied by several months of cycling across the U.S. from Los Angeles to New York.
