The Dixie Cups are an American vocal trio, which was also very successful internationally in the early 1960s.

History

The sisters Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins belonged with her cousin Joan Marie Johnson of the first representatives of that in America the so-called " girl groups sound " established at the beginning of the 1960s. In 1963 she began to tackle a professional Sangeskarriere. Shortly after, she took part in a talent contest in New Orleans, where Joe Jones became aware of them. Until 1965, the Dixie Cups were represented in the charts, then they changed the record company and then were able to record only minor successes.

The song Chapel Of Love has been added to the list of 500 songs that have the most impact on rock and roll, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was also used in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.
