The The Drummer (Original Title: The Drummer ) is a Hong Kong film written and directed by Kenneth Bi It is the second film of the director.
Action
Sid is the son of a Hong Kong underworld legend. Therefore, he comes with all his insolence through the underworld until he unfortunately seduces the girlfriend of a gangster boss. The rebellious young man runs away now before his involvement in criminal activities in the lonely hills of Taiwan. There he joins a group of Zen musicians and finds the long-awaited peace.
Background
The film premiered on 9 August 2007 its world premiere at the 60th Locarno Film Festival. On October 11, 2007, the Hong Kong premiere. The Drummer was shown in the " World Cinema Dramatic Competition " section of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. He is the first film in competition from the region of Hong Kong and Taiwan at the prestigious festival.
The Drummer was co-produced by the German production company Twenty Twenty Vision. The German composer Andre Matthias is responsible for the soundtrack.
When the director Kenneth Bi saw U- Theatre, a twelve -headed drum group from Taiwan in 2000, he felt excited about this movie.
