Photographs and newsreel reports served as the basis for the biography of former First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt ( 1884-1962 ).

As a child, Eleanor was shy and homely. With the customs of the people of the century they could handle not good. In 1905 she married her uncle fifth degree, Franklin D. Roosevelt, which changed their lives forever. She founded not only a family, but used her suffering from poliomyelitis man. She encouraged her physically disabled man to enter into politics.

Eleanor was always at her husband, who was first Governor of New York and later President of the United States page. After his death on 12 April 1945 Eleanor remained active in politics. As a defender of human rights and an opponent of Senator Joseph McCarthy, she traveled around the world. From President Truman, she was sent as a U.S. delegate to the United Nations. As a gifted diplomat, she sat in front of the UN Human Rights Commission, which drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

1966, the film won an Oscar for Best Documentary. He was also honored by the National Board of Review with the NBR Award for Best Film.
