Makai Toshi SaGa / Final Fantasy Legend

The first part of the series was released on 15 December 1989 under the title of Makai Toshi SaGa (Japanese魔界 塔士Sa · Ga, dt " SaGa: Warrior of the Demon Empire Towers" ) in Japan and was the first for the Gameboy published role-playing game. In the United States, he appeared on September 30, 1990 under the title The Final Fantasy Legend, to facilitate by the then already known franchise brand Final Fantasy commercialization. In 1998 the game was released (as well as the two successor, and not belonging to this series Final Fantasy Adventure) for a license transfer for a second time in America, this time from Sunsoft, which led to some confusion among players. A port and revamping the graphics took place in 2002 for the Wonderswan Color, but remained confined to the Japanese market.

In this part, you control a group of four heroes who want to climb a tower in the center of the world. From this it is said that it represents a connection to paradise, and that already many adventurers have failed in the attempt to climb it. In order to gain access to this tower, and later to ascend it further to, you have to perform various tasks in the world in which one is currently. If you have successfully mastered this, one must tread in the tower itself a new level, which leads to a new, thematically different world, waiting in the new tasks to the group. The view of the world represented in tile graphic is in each case in a plan view, visible are just kind-hearted non-player characters ( NPC ) and for the game's plot important characters, enemies you meet on random encounters.

These random encounters were conveyed much of the fighting in this game; they do run around based on where the enemies are displayed in a simple frontal presentation next and under each other; the own characters appear only in the menu display. Each character has in her lap the way to an action, which are primarily offensive in nature. Even if you solo starts the game initially, you can always hire up to three additional heroes. The case possible Klassen-/Rassenwahl includes three different options that differ in addition to the skills of the characters in the way and so they develop. In addition to the class-dependent developments, there is an experience-based development in the classical sense, takes place at the battle acquired by practical experience for a general development of the character. Besides the natural development is the possibility to equip a part of the game characters with commercially purchased or found equipment. Weapons have it, with few exceptions, a limited number of possible applications, so they dissipate over time.

People continue to evolve by taking magic potions, and they can also carry multiple weapons at once. These weapons thus differ in different types, some where the strength of the user about the efficiency of decision ( for example, axes ), and others in which the mobility is crucial (such as firearms ). Mutants continuously evolve by applying their skills further, but this is random based on a specific part. They also have the ability to use magic, and certain random properties, which take the place of the equipment. It is offensive or defensive capabilities, which are used much like magic, or are activated automatically in certain situations. These properties are randomly learned and lost again, and are limited in their use. As a third possible character you can recruit monsters. This automatically possess certain skills, depending on their type and can not be changed. Instead, you can convert the monsters in different types, by eating meat from defeated enemies. Depending on the type of meat and the current form then you take on a new form with new abilities.

SaGa 2: Hiho Densetsu / Final Fantasy Legend II

Hiho Densetsu (Japanese Sa · Ga 2秘宝 伝 説, dt " SaGa 2: Legend of the Secret Treasure " ) On December 14, 1990, in Japan by Squaresoft under the name SaGa 2 released the next installment of the series. Under the name Final Fantasy Legend II, it was released on November 1, 1991 in the United States, and was once again re-released by Sunsoft in 1998.

This time the game task to collect over 12 worlds scattered MAGI parts, they are relics of the goddess Isis. Each of these MAGI in this case has a property, which can range from pure stat bonuses over bonuses resistance against various elements to be activated properties. As in the previous every world has its own background theme, which often represent a combination of a deity with a more historically situated near the present environment this time. If it should succeed the player to collect all 78 occurring in the game MAGI parts, he can revive the goddess Isis, and thus successfully end the game.

The game and battle system is almost identical to its predecessor (humans, in contrast to earlier magic use ). In addition to the normal four play figures there are in this part, however, the position for a fifth, situation-dependent NPC remains only for a certain period in the group. The choice of possible group members have been added to the robot. Unlike the other classes, this robot developed by the equipment he carries. In this case, there is no limit in number and type of equipment, as it applies to other classes, for example, a robot can carry several gloves or helmets at the same time. For objects with a limited number of uses, the use number can only use half of a robot, but brush up on by a snap.

SaGa 3: Jiku no Hasha / Final Fantasy Legend III

With SaGa 3: Jiku no Hasha (Japanese Sa · Ga 3 :時空 の 覇者, dt " SaGa 3: The ruler of time and space " ), which in turn was published on 13 December 1991 by Squaresoft in Japan, this ended series. In the U.S., the game was released on 29 September 1993 under the title Final Fantasy Legend III, and was once again reissued by Sunsoft 1998.

After individual elements of science fiction ever came to fruition in the predecessors, they have this time significant influence on the background story of the game. A group of children from the future is sent into the present in order to combat a water entity which cities inundated in different time periods. These must be the first time a modern machine, the Talon, completed and put into operation. When this is done, you can break into the home of the essence, and they eventually stop you from threatening the world.

The basic gameplay remained as in the predecessor received, both visually by the operator, as well as the fifth place in the group continued to be used for situational NSC. Nevertheless, there are different change in the classification system. Characters can only start as a human or mutant. The change in other forms of play takes place in this part by actions of the player itself, and is reversible at any time. In this case, the change always takes place via the intermediate stage, and not directly from one extreme class into another. The changing picture here is as follows: Monster / Beast ↔ human / mutant ↔ robot / cyborg.

If a base class to be meat that was left behind by enemies, she turns into a monster (if it's monster meat) or a Beast (with other meats ). The new class Beast is a mixture of man and monster, it can use equipment, and supplement this with specific properties that depend on the current Beast form. New Beast forms are accepted automatically at the next Level, and not like the monster by eating meat. Specifies a base class to a robot part, it becomes a robot, any other mechanical or electronic part, the result is a cyborg. Robots are in contrast to earlier as people, they have to develop extra- deed to the capsules, and they can now have their own abilities. Cyborgs, however, behave as before the robot, and evolve through scale equipment.

As already for the second part of the series, was published on January 6, 2011 SaGa 3: Jiku no Hasha: Shadow or Light a remake for the Nintendo DS. Also, this remake will retain the basic system of the original, but visually completely umgemünzt on 3D graphics.
