The Garden of Words

The Garden of Words (Jap.言の葉 の 庭, Kotonoha no Niwa, dt "Garden of Words ") is an anime film by the Japanese director Makoto Shinkai, who arrived on 31 May 2013 in the Japanese movie theaters and on 28 April 2013 on the Gold Coast film Festival in Australia celebrated its premiere. Along with the feature film, a 7-minute short film called Dareka no Manazashi (だれか の まなざし) was demonstrated. Both titles have been licensed for the German-speaking area of Switzerland VIZ Media and appear in March 2014 through the label Kazé on DVD and Blu -ray.

Content

The 15 -year-old Takao Akizuki lives with his melodramatic mother and his older brother Shouta. His biggest dream is to become a shoemaker. When he was one morning on a rainy day on the way to school, he makes at the local park and just sketched shoes. He discovered a well dressed woman, Yukari Yukino, drinking beer in the drizzle and eating chocolate. At first she did not talk to each other, but when the rain stops to Yukari decides to adopt him with a Waka. Then she leaves him; amazed at its origin. The two continued to meet in the morning in the park and get to know each other. Yukari is interested in getting more for the shoe sketches of Takao and so decides this, a pair of shoes for Yukari to produce. He measures her feet and she admits that she must finally learn to stand on their own feet. The rainy season is coming to an end and both think they should return to their normal life. In their minds they want, however fervently it would start to rain again, so that they could continue their meeting.

Publications

The Garden of Words was shown at the Gold Coast Film Festival for the first time in late April. The regular theatrical release took place from May 31, 2013 Japan. In North America, the film by Sentai Filmworks is published. For all German-speaking countries of the publisher VIZ Media Switzerland holds the rights. On March 31, The Garden of Words in this country published by the anime label Kazé.

Synchronization

For the German language version of the dubbing studio VSI Berlin was responsible. The German dialogue book Frank wrote Preissler, who also led the synchronous Director.

Adaptations

In Kōdanshas manga magazine Afternoon appeared from issue 6/2013 (25 April 2013) to 12/2013 (25 October 2013), a manga adaptation drawn by Midori Motohashi. The chapters have also been summarized in an anthology ( tankōbon ), released on 22 November 2013 ( ISBN 978-4-06-387941-4 ).

Makoto Shinkai published in Media Factory's Da Vinci literary magazine since issue 9/ 2013 ( August 6, 2013 ) is a serialized novel, in the previous edition already a draft was published.
