The Golden Voyage of Sinbad

Sinbad dangerous adventure is a British- American fantasy film directed by Gordon Hessler from the year 1973.

Action

On the way across the Indian Ocean Sindbad the sailor and his crew drops a mysterious golden jewel in your hands, which was lost by a flying creature, a winged homunculus. While his team outlaws the gem as a bad omen, Sinbad takes the amulet itself and sails on. In the following night, however, he is plagued by a nightmare in which a cloaked figure in black who calls his name, and a mysterious young woman appeared to him, and a storm verschlägt the ship to the coast of the kingdom Marabia. As Sindbad swims ashore first, he meets Prince Koura, a magician of the dark arts. This was the actual recipient of the gold jewelery and wants to snatch away the Navigator, but is stopped by the guards of the Grand Vizier, the Regent of Marabia, that support Sindbad helping. Koura leaves the gate with the help of a spell to fall and thus escapes his pursuers. Here, however, it is clear that whenever Koura uses magic, he loses life energy and aging.

In the capital clears the Regent of the Empire, the Grand Vizier, whose face was disfigured by Kouras magic and he hides under a golden mask since then, Sindbad over the golden treasure piece to: It is one of three parts that when put together give an amulet the way to the mystical island of Lemuria has. On this there should be a secret cave in which the " Fountain of Destiny" is. This is a magical source, which releases for the pieces of the amulet three supernatural gifts - eternal youth, an invisible sign -making and a crown of immense value - and for these gifts Koura wants to bring the amulet in his possession. Sinbad and the Grand Vizier have two components, and with their help they discover the path to the location of the third fragment, which is located in a temple of Goddess Kali on Lemuria.

The conversation, however, overheard by Kouras creature, the Homunculus, and through its connection with his master also learns Koura of the project before the homunculus is discovered and comes to an end. Sinbad sets off to complete the amulet, and the Grand Vizier agrees to participate in the search. Shortly before the departure Sinbad is still asked by a local dealer to take his useless son Haroun with him to make him a man. First disclaims Sindbad from, but when he meets the slave Margiana and she recognizes from his nightly dream vision, he finally looks at the business and takes both with him.

The next morning break Sinbad and his crew to Lemuria on, and Koura itself followed the two with its own ship. The subsequent journey is fraught with danger, the Koura prepares the passengers. Following an attempt to shake him off in a fog, it excites the figurehead of Sinbad's ship and so captured the chart to Lemuria. By obtaining the the card he arrives not be the first to Lemuria, but it creates Sinbad and his followers in the temple of the Oracle of Lemuria trap and enter the temple of the goddess Kali. The wild natives who worship both this statue as well as a "living God " in the form of a one-eyed centaur, want, Koura and his servant sacrifice, but Koura brings the statue of Kali with an elixir and thus will not only win the loyalty of the natives, but can Kali rushing on Sinbad and his friends. As Haroun manages to bring Kali to case, they find in the rubble of the third part of the amulet, but Koura manages to relieve them of all three parts and the first to arrive in the secret cave with the fate fountain.

With his last strength succeeds in ancient has since become Koura to throw a piece of the amulet the youth into the well and thereby regain his youth. Just as Sindbad Koura will provide, both parties are forced to intervene in a fight the forces of good and evil ( in the form of one-eyed centaur and a griffin ), while Koura obtains the power of invisibility. By balancing hand of fate, however, Sinbad gets the chance to kill the mage; the third amulet thereby falls into the fountain and is the last gift, the crown of immense value, free. Although Sinbad has the opportunity to do with it to the king, he decides to leave the crown to the Grand Vizier, frees him so that his disfigurement and confirmed him as the true rulers of Marabia. With the healed Grand Vizier, Margiana on its side and Haroun as a new, full-fledged member of his team Sindbad then takes the triumphant trip home to Marabia.

Background

  • Charles H. Schneer and Ray Harryhausen worked after 1964 back together with the Columbia. It was the second film version of Sindbad Columbia to 7th Voyage of Sinbad. The cost was a little less than 1 million U.S. dollars.
  • The stop-motion tricks came from Ray Harryhausen and were made after completion of filming in several months of work. The special effects were first advertised with the name Dynarama.
  • For the role of Koura Christopher Lee was originally provided. Koura actor Tom Baker was then committed to the television series Dr. Who. Kouras Zauberschwüre existed in the English original of backward read ad slogans. Achmed actor Takis Emmanuel was synchronized in the original English by Robert Rietti.
