The Head and the Heart

The Head and the Heart are an American folk rock band from Seattle.

Band History

In an open mike event at a restaurant in Seattle, where each go on stage and was able to play in front of the guests, the 2009, the two musicians Jonathan Russell and Josiah Johnson met. They decided to form a band, and took four other musicians to do so. As The Head and the Heart, they toured half a year in the Pacific Northwest and took an album self-directed. Through their performances they got the attention of record label Sub Pop and they finally took in the spring of 2011 under contract and released the debut album, which bears the band's name as the title. After a slow start, it eventually peaked at number 109 of the U.S. album charts and was ranked one of the Heatseeker charts.

The next year they spent again with tours and working on her second album. Let's Be Still was released in late 2013, and went straight to number ten in the official charts. To this end, it came fifth in the rock and topped the Independent Albums.
