Keys to the Kingdom ( Original title: The Keys to the Kingdom) is a fantasy adventure novel series of the Australian author Garth Nix. The series comprises seven volumes.

The title of each band corresponds to the name of a Tomorrow's the day, which the main character Arthur must confront:

Summary

Protagonist of the series is the 12 -year-old, was diagnosed with asthma Arthur Penhaligon. The series begins on a Monday, the main story on Monday the following week. Each band plays in one day this week and closes on a Sunday. Each day is represented by a being who summarized as trustee (English Trustees ) are referred to. Each of them have dominion over a portion of the house, which is the center of the universe. The seven regions in the house are, in order of the Trustee: the Lower House, the Far Reaches, the Border Sea, the Great Maze, the Middle House, the Upper House and the Incomparable Gardens.

At the beginning of the first book Arthur has a relatively normal life. He is an adopted child in a large family. Arthur is removed in contact with the key of his asthma. After a few circumstances Arthur enters the house where he experiences a series of strange and dangerous adventures.

Arthur finds out that the legacy of the architect ( creator of the house and the so-called " Secondary Realms " that surround the house ) was not fulfilled, as it was intended. Instead, it was held by the trustees of the architect, the Morrow Days, broken into seven parts. The legacy was now forced to act independently and be Part appoints Arthur to Rightful heirs of the kingdom. Now it's Arthur's job to find all the missing parts of the legacy, each trustee ( each of which is associated with one of the seven deadly sins ) to defeat, to take over their domains through the receipt of the respective key and uncover the secrets of the house.

Arthur, a 12 - year-old boy is just moved to a new city and just wants to just adapt. When he gets a life-threatening asthma attack, a strange metal object saves his life: A key that has given him the even stranger Mister Monday. When his servant, the bearer, a mysterious disease in Arthur's home town spread to make this on the way to the house, a strange building that only he can see. Arthur learns that this structure contains its own universe, and is informed of his task: he must oust the trustees and take away the keys. Arthur can lead a normal life until he has the Trustees, also known as the Morrow Days disempowered. To do that, he needs to use, but slowly but surely infecting him with magic and turn into a citizen of the house keys. Since Arthur does not want this ( because he as a citizen can not return to earth ), the a central theme of the series: it uses the key only if it is absolutely necessary.

Suzy Turquoise Blue (English Suzy turquise blue ) is a child of Piper and was Tintenbefüllerin 6th grade. She was taken by the piper in the house. Later it was used by Arthur in a higher position: As Monday's Tierce ( engl. Monday's Tierce ), the personal assistant of Monday noon, formerly Mondays at dusk. Susi was born Susanna Dyer in England at the time of the plague. She is adventurous, has a childish mind and loves to break the rules against Arthur, however, is loyal.
