The League of Gentlemen

The League of Gentlemen is a British comedy television series, in the episodes in small events in the life of the inhabitants of the fictional town of Royston Vasey British are portrayed. The series comes from the pen of the same comedy group, which was founded in 1995 by the comedians Jeremy Dyson, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith. The outstanding feature of the series is that all the main characters are played by the three comedians Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith itself. The series consists of three squadrons, each with six episodes and a Christmas special. The series was preceded by a radio clip series on BBC radio and on completion of the series followed in 2005 nor the feature film The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse.

Action

The inhabitants of the northern English town of Royston Vasey are happy with each other and do not like strangers. When, however, a bypass road to be built by their place, they fear a wave of non- residents ( "not locals" ) and put everything in motion to prevent the construction of the road, especially the two shop owners Tubbs and Edwards. Meanwhile prevents job consultant Pauline that their course attendees have a chance on the labor market so that their own job is secure. The local veterinarian Dr. Chinery suffers psychologically from the phenomenon that every animal he treated soon dies a horrible death. The young hikers Benjamin Denton comes under his uncle Harvey and his Aunt Val, who no longer want him to omit. And the three work colleagues Geoff, Brian and Mike try the evening in the pub to find similarities in their dreary everyday life.

Production

The League of Gentlemen originally started out as a stage show in 1994. The show was honored in 1997 with the Perrier Comedy Award for Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Entitled On the Town with The League of Gentlemen, the show on BBC Radio has continued. 1999 adapted the four comedians their program for television and received, among other things Royal Television Society Award and the Golden Rose of Montreux.

Filming took place primarily in the British city of Hadfield, who has been broadcasting recorded a significant increase in visitor numbers.
