The small room is a published in 2010 feature film by Swiss director team Stéphanie and Véronique Reymond Chuat. The film about a geriatric nurse who has lost her child at birth, and an older gentleman who is to be deported to the nursing home, won in the same year, among other things the Swiss Film Prize Quartz for Best Film and Best Screenplay and was the Swiss Academy Post 2011 for Best Foreign Language film.

The film is a Swiss / Luxembourg co-production of Vega Film / Iris Productions. The main roles Michel Bouquet and Florence Loiret Caille - play.

In Germany the film starts on 29 September 2011 at the Arsenal Film Distribution.

Action

Edmond is an elderly gentleman who defends his independence persistent. He refuses to go into a nursing home and also rejects the help of a home carer from Rose, who has lost her child at birth. As Edmond is deported after a fall from his son against his will in a nursing home, it takes Rose to live with him. There he moves into the room, which was provided for Roses child, and helps her trying to cope with their grief. Between the two, a friendship in which it maintains its independence and regain their freedom from sorrow developed.

Reception

The small room was shown around the world at various film festivals, such as in Locarno, at the Montreal Film Festival, at the Hof Film Festival, at the Paris Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival. 2011 was the small bedroom on the Swiss Film Prize Quartz for Best Film and Best Screenplay.

In Switzerland, the film may already recorded 75,000 spectators.
