Biography

The Lively Ones was one of the most influential surf bands in Southern California in 1963. Publications of the band were taken under the direction of music producer Bob Keene at the record label Del -Fi Records. The typical surf sound, staccato pieces with reverb -heavy Fender Electric Guitars ( twang - guitar), accompanied by occasional saxophone deposits, was on all four recorded in 1963 LPs ( Surfrider, Surf Drums, This Is Surf City and Surfin 'South of The Border, demonstrated with the "Surf Mariachis ," a fictional band consisting of session musicians ).

Originality was not one of the strengths of the Lively Ones. So within a year, four studio albums and a compilation of the band with many cover versions and renamed rock ' n' roll and R & B pieces of Link Wray, Dick Dale, The Ventures and other recorded and released. The small number of his own works the Lively Ones was invariably composed by guitarist Jim Masoner, as author, however, the entire band was always called. The pieces Surfrider (written by Nokie Edwards, The Ventures ) and Rik -A- Tik became hits. The single Goofy Foot convinced by staccato riffs and brought the piece on various best-of compilations surf. The Lively Ones cover versions of the included material from a variety of genres. So songs like Telstar, Exodus, Rawhide and Cole Porter's Night and Day composition were interpreted in the surf style.

Due to the declining popularity of surf rock by the success of the music of the British Invasion mid -1960s, the band The Lively Ones disbanded in 1965. In 1994, the music of the Lively Ones experienced a renewed growth in popularity, when her cover version of the piece Surfrider was used for the end credits of the movie Pulp Fiction. Since then the band is back together with occasional appearances on special occasions.
