The Love Bug is an American comedy film from 1968 with the miracle -VW Beetle Herbie as the main character.

Action

The unsuccessful race car driver Jim Douglas learns in a car business not only its owner Thorndyke and his secretary Carole, but also know a VW Beetle, which is obviously equipped with a life of its own. As the wondrous companions Jim follows also follow them home, Jim buys the car. First, he helps Jim and Carole for a date.

Since Herbie the race now but still wins, takes over Mr. Wu Thorndyke's auto business. Thorndyke and his assistant oat straw have to work as a mechanic for Mr. Wu; Jim and Carole marry.

In the same year the film finished the Laurel Award second place in the category of Best Comedy; Dean Jones was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy.

Continuations

The film was followed by three sequels and a remake: 1973 Herbie was great in motion, three years later, the great beetle in the Monte Carlo Rally was shot and finally was with Herbie rotates by 1980, the third and final installment staged. 1997 was a television film titled The Love Bug returns. In 2005, with Herbie: Fully Loaded - The Love Bug launches produced by a remake.

Between 1971 and 1979, a multi-part movie series of the VW Beetle Dudu was produced in the FRG, whose model is the series of films about Herbie.
