The Wonderful Weaver is a Soviet fairy tale film by Alexander Rou from the year 1960.
Action
A soldier returns to his hometown, playing on his drum a song. As two young bears who ask him to free her trapped in an iron nut appear. In fact, a paw of Mother Bear stuck in a strange beak iron that looks surprised the soldier. The Bears tell him that they no longer go for a long time in the nearby forest, because there live sinister creature. The soldier wants to know more and enters the forest, which is dead silent. He finds here the sleeping boy Vanya, who is in search of his mother Marie. The water was kidnapped by the evil spirit, as they can embroider art. When the soldier announces intention to begin the fight against the water spirit, appears before him and the boy. Both require him to return to Marie and the water spirit agrees, if he can have for the drum of the soldiers, he detested but every noise. The soldier agrees to give him the drum after the water spirit has led her to Marie. The takes her to his kingdom.
Under the ground and under water the water spirit leads the soldiers and Vanya in his moated castle. Production
The Wonderful Weaver is based on a play by Yevgeny Schwarz. The film was released in the Soviet cinema on March 24, 1960. On December 23, 1960, the film was in the theaters of the GDR, was commissioned in 1984 again into the program and experienced on April 1, 1994 to ORB his German TV Air Date. Icestorm brought the film in January 2005 as part of the series The most beautiful fairy tale classic of Russian cinema history on DVD.
