The Marvelettes

The Marvelettes were an American singing group.

History

With 21 hits on the R & B charts and 23 hits on the pop charts, the Marvelettes were one of the most successful girl groups of the 1960s. The from Inkster (Michigan ), United States, originating girls banded together during a singing contest their school.

On December 11, 1961 its title Please Mr. Postman # 1 listed in the U.S. singles chart in the top spot and was the first number one for her record label Motown at all. The Beatles took the title in 1963, in 1974 he became a hit for the Carpenters.

In the early 1970s, the band fell apart, but came with different singers each session in 1980 and again in 1990 shortly together. In 2004, they were incorporated into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
