The Mask of Warka
The woman mask of Uruk is a fabricated marble female head. This is 20.1 cm high and was found in Warka in southern Iraq. It originated during the Uruk period in the late 4th millennium BC Today it is in the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad.
The piece presents a singularity dar. It is smoothed at the back, so that it could possibly be attached to a wall. At the apex is a groove in which the hair of the figure was fixed. This was probably made of gold sheet. The eyes and eyebrows were made and inserted from a different material. These are not preserved.
