The Master Trust Bank of Japan

The Master Trust Bank of Japan, Ltd.. ( MTBJ; jap日本 マスター トラスト 信託 銀行 株式会社, Nihon Shintaku Ginko Masuta torasuto kabushiki - gaisha ) is a Japanese Trust and investment bank and subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group ( MUFG ).

The total amount of managed assets in trusts amounted at the end of fiscal year 2007 to 137 trillion yen ( € 874 billion).

History

In 1985, the Bank Chase Manhattan Trust and Banking (チェース·マンハッタン 信託 銀行) was founded. This was acquired in 1996 from Deutsche Bank Japan and the German Morgan Grenfell Trust Bank (ドイチェ· ·モルガングレンフェル 信託 銀行), later DMG Trust Bank summarized. In 2000, the Bank was set up with the entry of Mitsubishi Trust & Banking and three other Japanese companies in its present form, the name was changed to The Master Trust Bank of Japan.

The shares are (as of November 2006) in possession of the following companies:

  • Mitsubishi UFJ Shintaku Ginko 46.5 %
  • Nihon Seimei Hoken 33.5 %
  • Meiji Yasuda Seimei Hoken ( Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance ) 10%
  • Nōchū Shintaku Ginko (The Norinchukin Trust & Banking ) 10%
