Band History

In 1962, the brothers founded Rick (guitar) and Randy Zehringer (drums) in Union City, Indiana, the band Rick And The Raiders. With this Dennis Kelly was on bass. After a spell as The Rick Z Combo with Ronnie Brandon on keyboards and Randy Jo Hobbs instead of Kelly on bass, they finally called in 1965 the McCoys. Brandon later left the group for him rose in 1967 Robert " Bobby" Peterson one on keyboards.

The first single of the McCoys, Hang on Sloopy, immediately stormed the charts (in the USA No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100). Then they had with Fever and C'Mon Let's Go further hits.

1969 joined the core of the McCoys, the Zehringer brothers and Hobbs, Johnny Winter as a companion volume. Rick changed his name to Rick Derringer.

Hobbs died on 5 August 1993 ( Derringer 's birthday) at the age of 45 years due to heart failure in a hotel room in Dayton, Ohio. Peterson died on July 21, 1993 at the age of 47 in Gainesville, Florida.
