The Monotones

The Monotones were an American rock and roll vocal group. With (Who Wrote ) The Book of Love 1958 they had their only major hit, number 5 on the pop charts and number 3 of the R & B charts in the United States.

The group was founded in 1955 in Newark, New Jersey, and consisted of Charles Patrick, Warren Davis, George Malone, John Smith, John Ryanes and his brother Warren Ryanes. Patrick's brother James was also there first, but soon retired from. Their repertoire consisted mainly of doo-wop songs.
