The Next Best Thing ( The Next Best Thing ) is a film comedy starring Benjamin Bratt, Rupert Everett and Madonna from 2000.
Action
Abbie Reynolds and homosexual Robert Whittaker live in Los Angeles. You are friends. After alcohol consumption on a holiday, they end up in bed together. Abbie gets a son, and she and Robert raise together.
Some years later, Abbie learns to financial experts Ben Cooper know, shows the interest in her. When she wants to move with it, and Whittaker court to fight for custody of their son. It turns out that Robert is not the biological father; this is then the man with whom Abbie had a one -night stand and presented him to court. The transaction is thus a plea on the question of what makes a man a father of a child. Finally, Abbie is indeed awarded sole custody, but in the last scene she lets her son Robert speak.
Reviews
Kenneth Turan criticized in the Los Angeles Times on March 3, 2000, the film would be " inauthentic ". He criticized the portrayal of Madonna as well as the screenplay.
Susan Wloszczyna mocked in the USA Today, Madonna had "borrowed" the film partner of Julia Roberts from The wedding of my best friend and her current partner in the movie, they would have to borrow the talent of Roberts.
