The Obsidian Conspiracy is the seventh album by American Progressive / Thrash metal band Nevermore. The album was released 28 May 2010 through Century Media.

Formation and style

In contrast to the previous album, This Godless Endeavor The Obsidian Conspiracy was, had written a total of 13 pieces for the Nevermore after five -year hiatus, resumed in the U.S.. As a producer Peter Wichers acted ( Soilwork ), was heard previously on Warrel Dane's solo album Praises to the War Machine and this also produced. Also guitarist Jeff Loomis had recorded his solo album during a break.

"After we released in 2005 This Godless Endeavor, we were two years of touring. Then we had first fed each other back teeth. (...) In the difficult situation we needed first a break from Nevermore ... "

More drum and bass tracks were recorded among others in the band's hometown, Seattle. Like its predecessor, Andy Sneap completed in the Backstage Recording Studio in Derbyshire in England the mix. As a bonus pieces Temptation by The Tea Party and The Crystal Ship by The Doors were taken. With The Blue Marble and the New Soul ballad is included. Also, She Comes in Colours is was relatively quiet and is partially played with acoustic guitars.

Reception

In Rock Hard Boris Kaiser review was not only positive. Although he missed eight of ten points and spoke of an album, " which is better than 90 percent of all other Metal - releases". As Nevermore fan but you must " talk " all in all " a disappointment ". Nevertheless, the panel reached the third place in the monthly " Richter scale " of the magazine, with an average of 7.9 points.
