Action

United States in 2013: A nuclear war has devastated the world and civilization has gone down. The people live scattered from each other without hope.

Gordon Krantz wanders alone through the devastated areas. When he comes in settlements, he is a one-man show at get food. Then he moves on without to have a goal in mind.

But one day he finds a rusty post bus shelter and finds the remains of a postman and a few bags of unzugestellten letters. After he buried the bones, he puts on the uniform and takes the mailbags in to deliver the letters. First, he does so in order to get accommodation in a settlement, but after he was able to identify some letters successful, he moved with letters of the people on. When you want to disallow it in the nearest settlement to the entrance, he tells the people that he was a postal official of the resurrected United States. With this lie he sows hope in the people and becomes a reluctant hero. Now he 's trying to restore the mail.

The basic idea for this novel, so the protagonist who accidentally stumbles upon the Apocalypse about a dead postman and begins to deliver the letters, leading to a resurgence of the postal service, based on a minor character from the novel Lucifer's Hammer by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven (1977).

Filming
