The Power (Snap! song)
The Power is a 1990 published and produced the song dance group Snap!. The song was a worldwide success. In 1996, a remix of the hits of 1990 was released in 2003 and was followed by another remix in the style of Bhangra.
Music and lyrics
Production was orchestrated by Snap!, Written by the Frankfurt producer Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti pseudonyms Benito Benites using her and John " Virgo" Garrett III. The rap came from Turbo B (actually Durron Maurice Butler, born April 30, 1967 in Pittsburgh / Pennsylvania) and the vocals by Penny Ford ( Jackie Harris in the video, however, is to be seen).
The song begins with the somewhat enigmatic line in Russian: " Американская фирма Transceptor Technologies приступила к производству компьютеров « Персонaльный спутник » " (Eng. about " The American company ' Transceptor Technologies ' production has begun of' staff Companion' computers " ). Personal Companion was a computer- like device for blind and visually impaired, which in 1990 brought the American company Transceptor Technologies of Ann Arbor, Michigan on the market. It was operated by the user's voice and could, among other functions, automatically download messages from USA Today by a built-in modem.
Münzing and Anzilotti published the title on the record label Wild Pitch Records, first with the addition of " Power Jam featuring Chill Rob G", but without securing that the samples used were licensed. Because unlicensed samples from the tracks Let the Words Flow by Chill Rob G, Love's Gonna Get You by Jocelyn Brown and King Of The Beats by Mantronix the title in the U.S. has been included and the digits of Chill Rob G were rap from Turbo B. replaced. Jocelyn Brown's sample I've Got the Power from the song Love's Gonna Get You 1985 remained after clarification as a prominent vocal in the song.
Charts
First, The Power became a hit in Germany and there reached # 2 on the charts and gold status. A little later, in March 1990, the song placed for two weeks in the UK at # 1 and achieved platinum status there. First placed only on the basis of the import sales in the American charts, the title did shortly after its official release in the U.S. on the way to the top of the charts. The maximum ranking in the U.S. R & B charts was number 4, on the Billboard Hot 100 number 2 and on the Billboard Hot Rap chart and the Hot Dance Club Play Charts climbed the song to position 1 In the United States became The Power Platinum status. The remix versions of 1996 and 2003 failed to match the success of the original version.

Agathe Bauer Songs

For some years there is the so-called " Agathe Bauer Songs", which go back to The Power. Supposedly called a listener of RTL Radio in the transmitter and wished the " Agathe Bauer Song " because they " Agathe Bauer" had incorrectly instead of " I've got the power" understood.
